Abstract:

High power diode lasers are new welding tools for industrial manufacturing, which exhibit complementary characteristics to conventional Nd:YAG solid state lasers. For this reason a Laser Bifocal Hybrid Welding equipment with both kinds of laser sources was developed at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management of Technical University of Munich in Germany in order to combine their advantages. In the present work the influence of process parameters on the geometry and microstructure of the weld seams as well as the mechanical behaviour under quasistatic and cyclic load at AA6060 sheet joints are examined.
