Abstract:

In this thesis, the gradient based SQP optimization algorithm is applied to structures under higly dynamic crash conditions simulated with LS-DYNA. The boundaries of the applicability of gradient based methods are found and response surface approximation is used where necessary. An interface between MATLAB, ANSYS and LS-DYNA is created and limitations are identified.
