Abstract:
In this thesis CAD-based shape optimization of a BWM C1 structural component is researched. The model is generated in CATIA and parameterized with 21 design variables. In order to study the geometrical impact of shape optimization, two different models will be designed in CATIA, namely a control point model and a spline model. After the CAD model is generated, the model will be preprocessed in HyperMesh and analyzed in Ansys with FEM model reduction method. The optimization loop is done with MatLab’s fmincon function, which is based on the sequential quadratic programming algorithm.
