A Scientific Success Story in Manufacturing Technology

Abstract:

Deriving from research in related fields at the university of Dortmund, a patent for an extrusion process was filed in 1994 that became a showcase for the development of a manufacturing technology from an idea to an industrially applied process. The continuous effort of researchers, funding by the DFG and the BMBF, and the cooperation with the industry have finally led to a prosperous situation at the Chair of Forming Technology as well as the industrial partners.
