Abstract:
During the production process of three dimensionally-curved aluminium profiles which are used for the assembly of closed space frame structures, there are always deviations between the intended and the actual contour. These production-related deviations can add up during assembly in a way that an automated "closing" of these structures is only possible to a limited extent. This paper presents an approach to increasing the accuracy of space frame structures during assembly by additionally machining single profile ends. The derivation of the processing parameters and therefore, the optimization of structures, is based on the mathematical modeling of single three-dimensional profiles and all relevant processing steps, which are represented in this paper.
