Abstract:

This paper presents different approaches for containing clamping conditions in a Finite Element Analysis of laser beam welding production processes. Mainly, in the range of joining lightweightprofiles, the clamping condition influences the behaviour of distortion. Therefore, different strategies of modelling this effect within a thermo-mechanical calculation are developed and qualified. Explicitly, the transient description of boundary conditions and additional forces is modelled and implemented into a commercial Finite Element solver. Sample geometries and laser beam welding production processes are taken into account. An efficient industrial applicability and the accuracy of the particular results are contemplated in comparison of several modelling strategies.
